After ‘sex’, perhaps the most searched items on any search engine are ‘download’ and ‘freeware’. The topics of interest are mostly ‘sex’, ‘girls’, ‘sex videos’, ‘free downloads’, ‘google’, ‘yahoo’, ‘chat’, ‘music’, ‘games’ etc. There are those who search for an item and finding the search to be costly, prefix or suffix the word ‘free’. Its a different matter that what appears to be prima facie ‘free’ is either a short-lived demo version or a labyrinth starting with submission of all details of your existence on this planet ( you begin to feel anytime the FBI is going to be on your trail).

Choosing the right website

Most often, I have found the searches annoying. What is promised in the title or description is seldom found after clicking. With due respects to SEO gurus, I have even found websites under construction on the first page of search i.e., in the top ten group! Some pages with javascript errors also get high page rank by Google. The best sites providing excellent content can be discovered only after an enormous amount of time spent on the net or if one happens to come across a good reference.

Ezine articles are an excellent source for content-rich sites. One need not been an expert writer to pen articles but one must make sure the article has no spelling mistakes or grammatical errors. They are various resources on the net where writing skills can be learnt. In the worst case, one can hire a paid writer. There some ezines purely devoted to software. One can search for these and read reviews written by experts. Even joining forums is not a bad idea to understand what is being discussed.

Though Google claims its search engine ranks websites based on popularity and links and gives preference to content, its obvious no engine can decide upon the merits and demerits of a content without human involvement. It would be too optimistic to expect the Open Directory Project to scan and glance through the millions of websites and rate websites. They need editors but when you apply there is no response whatsoever!

Google Adwords and other similar ones are also good agents for mass advertisement for websites which otherwise would never be ‘visible’. Of course, there is a method to beat the high minimum bids required by Adwords for common terms. Even some keyword phrases are too costly. One can choose less competitive keyword phrases but the ‘count’ would be lower. I would suggest website owners to use only popular keywords based on ‘keyword selection tool’, ‘wordtracker’ etc. in their ad campaigns and experimentally determine the ‘position’ in Adwords summary. Then one can go for very low bids and increase their ROI.

Care must be exercised when deciding to download any ” free disk cleaner” or whatsoever! They leave a spy in the registry files to track your actions on the computer. Never ever trust any “free scan”! It is better to rely upon what comes with google or yahoo toolbar.

The author has tried to cull out a few essential links for searchers seeking ‘freeware’ and ‘downloads’ in music, games, and general software.

There are hundreds of university library catalogues available over the internet, some are available for subject searching. Two catalogues of extraordinary value are the National Library of Medicine (NLM) and the Library of Congress (LC). The NLM is the largest medical library in the world and it’s History of Medicine Division has a subordinate home page providing further resources. “Locator” is a library catalogue, it does not list the contents of serials and periodicals. To find journal articles and other subordinate information other resources are necessary. In medicine the most common computer based system is NLM’s MEDLARS established in 1964. MEDLINE (MEDLARS on line) is now available without charge at the NLM home page and is the most commonly used search tool for medical literature.

For history MEDLINE is limited by its origins — MEDLINE DOES NOT CONTAIN REFERENCES TO LITERATURE PUBLISHED PRIOR TO 1964! A MEDLINE search therefore is a very limited search. There are projects to put older medical literature into online searchable formats but at the present time you must use printed bibliographies to search for literature prior to 1964. HISTLINE (History of Medicine on line) is available without charge from the NLM History of Medicine Division Home Page. HISTLINE is the history of medicine subset of MEDLINE. It has been supplemented with references to historical literature which do not occur in the MEDLINE database. HISTLINE is the best available source for finding secondary literature in the history of medicine. However, HISTLINE only contains material published in 1970 or later, you can not find older historical literature through HISTLINE but most use printed bibliographies.

Applications may be submitted in various categories to be determined. Each category has seven author classifications: family physicians and fellows primarily in academic medicine, family physicians primarily in clinical practice, family practice residents, medical students, international attendees, professionals primarily engaged in medical informatics and others.

Estimates suggest that almost half of all articles published in journals are by ghostwriters. While doctors who have put their names to the papers can be paid handsomely for ‘lending’ their reputations, the ghostwriters remain hidden. They, and the involvement of the pharmaceutical firms, are rarely revealed.

An article published last February in the Journal of Alimentary Pharmacology , which specialises in stomach disorders, involved a medical writer working for drug giant AstraZeneca – a fact that was not revealed by the author.

In February the New England Journal of Medicine was forced to retract an article published last year by doctors from Imperial College in London and the National Heart Institute on treating a type of heart problem. It emerged that several of the listed authors had little or nothing to do with the research. The deception was revealed only when German cardiologist Dr Hubert Seggewiss, one of the eight listed authors, called the editor of the journal to say he had never seen any version of the paper.

Online games are gaining in popularity exponentially. It is one of the fastest growing segment on the Internet. Though there is no free lunch in life. It seems that free online games are a free lunch. Some of us have a impression that such games are for the teenagers. You will hear many parents talking about the countless hours their children spend playing games online. I wonder why the parents do not join them? Let me explain.

We are all looking for fun and entertainment. Many times the television offers nothing new or you might have got bored watching television and would like to do something else. You do not want to go out and meet friends nor are in any mood for a dinner outside. you want to laze around the house and do something entertaining if possible. Online games are the answer for every age group.

Online games have been wrongly assumed to be for young people. All age groups can enjoy them. What if parents join their children in online games? They would surely make them come closer. Why complain about how much the children are playing? Join them in the fun. They would love it. You would love that. And you can also control the types of games they play and the hours spent.

Online games are fun. They increase strategic thinking. They improve our responses. They help sharpen our thinking. The games help in many ways. Try them and you will agree with what I say. You would wonder why you never played them before.

Policy routing is a major topic on your BSCI exam, and you’ll find quite a bit of policy routing going on in today’s production networks. But what exactly is policy routing?

Policy-based routing, generally referred to as “policy routing”, is the use of route maps to determine the path a packet will take to get to its final destination. As you progress through your CCNP studies and go on to the CCIE (or to a Cisco Quality Of Service certification), you’ll find that traffic can be “marked” by policy routing in order to give different levels of service to various classes of traffic. (This is done by marking the traffic and placing the different classes of traffic in different queues in the router, allowing the administrator to give some traffic higher priority for transmission.)

There are some basic policy routing rules you should know:

Policy routing doesn’t affect the destination of the packet, but does affect the path that is taken to get there.

Policy routing can forward traffic based on the source IP address or the destination IP address (with the use of an extended ACL).

Policy routing can be configured at the interface level, or globally.

Applying policy routing on an interface affects only packets arriving on that interface:

R2(config)#int s0

R2(config-if)#ip policy route-map CHANGE_NEXT_HOP

Applying the policy globally applies the route map to packets generated on the router, not on all packets received on all interfaces.

Whether you’re running policy routing at the interface level, on packets created locally, or both, always run the command show ip policy to make sure you’ve got the right route maps on the proper interfaces.

R2#show ip policy

Interface Route map

local CHANGE_NEXT_HOP

Serial0 CHANGE_NEXT_HOP

And here’s the big rule to remember….

If a packet doesn’t match any of the specific criteria in a route map, or does match a line that has an explicit deny statement, the data is sent to the routing process and will be processed normally. If you don’t want to route packets that do not meet any route map criteria, the set command must be used to send those packets to the null0 interface. This set command should be the final set command in the route map.

There are four possibilities for an incoming packet when route maps are in use. The following example illustrates all of them.

R2(config)#access-list 29 permit host 20.1.1.1

R2(config)#access-list 30 permit host 20.2.2.2

R2(config)#access-list 31 permit host 20.3.3.3

R2(config)#access-list 32 permit host 20.4.4.4

R2(config)#route-map EXAMPLE permit 10

R2(config-route-map)#match ip address 29

R2(config-route-map)#set ip next-hop 40.1.1.1

R2(config-route-map)#route-map EXAMPLE permit 20

R2(config-route-map)#match ip address 30

Assuming the route map has been applied to the router’s ethernet0 interface, a packet sourced from 20.1.1.1 would meet the first line of the route map and have its next-hop IP address set to 40.1.1.1.

A packet sourced from 20.2.2.2 would match the next permit statement (sequence number 20). Since there is no action listed, this packet would return to the routing engine to undergo the normal routing procedure. All traffic that did not match these two addresses would also be routed normally – there would be no action taken by the route map.

Perhaps we want to specifically block traffic sourced from 20.3.3.3 or 20.4.4.4. We can use multiple match statements in one single route map, and have packets matching those two addresses sent to the bit bucket – the interface null0.

R2(config)#route-map EXAMPLE permit 30

R2(config-route-map)#match ip address 31

R2(config-route-map)#match ip address 32

R2(config-route-map)#set ?

as-path Prepend string for a BGP AS-path attribute

automatic-tag Automatically compute TAG value

comm-list set BGP community list (for deletion)

community BGP community attribute

dampening Set BGP route flap dampening parameters

default Set default information

extcommunity BGP extended community attribute

interface Output interface

ip IP specific information

level Where to import route

local-preference BGP local preference path attribute

metric Metric value for destination routing protocol

metric-type Type of metric for destination routing protocol

origin BGP origin code

tag Tag value for destination routing protocol

weight BGP weight for routing table

R2(config-route-map)#set interface null0

Any traffic matching ACLs 31 or 32 will be sent to null0, resulting in its being discarded by the router. Any traffic that didn’t match any of the route map statements will be returned to the routing engine for normal processing.

Knowing policy routing and how to apply it are essential skills for passing the BSCI exam, earning your CCNP, and becoming more valuable in today’s job market. Get some hands-on practice in a CCNA / CCNP home lab or rack rental to go along with learning the theory, and you’ll be writing and applying policy routing in no time at all.

Beginning with Bluetooth capability, the 755p, features and EVDO high-speed data transfer, which makes browsing on the web while on the go easy and efficient.

When it comes to email functions, the 755p employees Exchange Direct Push email technology, which makes responding to emails when on the road easy and safe. In general, all of the features associated with the Internet are easy to call up on the screen and use. There is a lot less of the hunting through menus that are a standard for many types of phones with Internet capabilities.

There are some of the usual feature that people have come to expect with Palm, such as a fully integrated PDA feature, so it is easy to access customer files as well as create new ones that can be downloaded into a main database once back in the office. A calendar feature helps to keep the schedule on track, and a GPS location finder helps make calling on clients in unfamiliar cities a breeze. All in all, the Treo by Palm 755p is a solid working cell phone solution for any businessperson.
Pros

With the Treo by Palm 755p, you get:

* GPS locator technology
* Integrated PDA features
* Camera with Digital Zoom
* Easy navigation through menus

Cons

A few things to remember:

* No real time video sharing
* Limited ring tone selections
* Phone is a little heavier than many other models

Overall

The Treo by Palm 755p is a great work cell phone for people who need to be out of the office a lot. With the usual assortment of Palm features many people have come to rely upon integrated with standard cell phone options, the 755p stacks up well against similarly priced units.

Anti-Virus sends shivers down your spine when you think of all the damage they can do and the word tool gives us a primal instinct of safety and help. When you think about this is exactly what Anti-Virus Tools is designed for, peace of mind and a way to keep your computer form catching a cold.

Pros

What can one person say, there are more pros to this than there are letters in any alphabet but to name a few of them at the very least are, the protection it provides you while doing something as simple as checking your email, or chatting on one of the various Instant Messengers out there. Another fact is that all can and will continuously scan on their own or when you command them too. You can also determine how deep a scan is or isn’t. In addition another Pro is the level of Defense the Anti-Virus Tools can provide, you can set it so high that nothing is getting in, unless of course you let it.

Cons

When it comes to Cons well there are a few to consider, one being whether or not your Anti-Virus tool is up to the job, some only protect against certain attacks while others cannot handle or keep up with the daily changes to the Anti-Virus world. Another and probably the biggest problem is the size of these programs, there are some out there that do not leave much room for anything else to be running, while others themselves are so large that unless you are running 128 MB or higher you do not have enough resources to use the program anyway.

User ability

The ease of use in these programs can be as different as day and night, however in most cases if you let it set up and install then run itself in the default settings then they are relatively easy to use. Another thing to consider is, before you install one is whether the product is right for you and if the Anti-Virus Tool does the job you need it to. Once these things are out of the way the User Ability turns into simple issues like deciding when the best time for it to run a scan is, remember the PC has to be turned on at the time and it is generally best to not do anything else during the scan.

Safety and Security

When it comes to Anti-Virus tools the safer you are in your choices and settings the more secure you will be. If you turn on your PC then you need to have an Anti-Virus tool, whether the computer ever gets put on line or not. A major Security for all of us is our own personal information and whether we are comfortable giving it out or not. There are very few of us who will willingly give out much more than our name and email, there are even more who do not like giving even that out. I suggest an alter-net email address for those who do not like giving out there own, and take into consideration that if the Anti-Virus tool you choose wants more information from you to download it then maybe you need to consider where you are downloading it from.

Summary and Rating

Summing up something as complex as Anti-Virus Tools, with all the options out there, and all the more reasons to use one is a huge undertaking in itself. I can only make suggestions on where to go from here. First choose carefully and wisely, do not be afraid to spend a few dollars to protect your computer. The thing to remember about the cost is, it has to be cheaper than having to buy an new PC. When choosing a tool, see what its minimum requirements are, what it protects against and how often it updates. Also whether or not you can set it to scan all the time and run your own deeper scan whenever you want.

As far as the Rating goes, it will and should always get a 10 and be one of the first things you do for your PC.

Well answer some more questions Do you like music? Do you find it convenient to download and store music on your computer/ipod(or other type of mp3 player)? Do you hate how long it takes to download music? Do you like to make mixes? Do you find it difficult to keep your collection organized on your computer? Well if you answer yes to several of these questions than you probably would find it worth your while to invest in some good music software.

Music software is software that makes downloading and listening to music much much easier. There are many services that can be offered by a software package but the basic service of music organization is always there. These programs are set up to evaluate the song(s) and automatically will organize them according to predetermined preferences. The organization is such that you can browse by category, artist, date downloaded, name of song, etc. It also will allow you to do a directory wide search keeping all of the titles on the tip of your finger for maximum enjoyment possibilities.

Other services that music software packages will often provide are links to good sources of online music and account information banks allowing you quick and easy access. Download accelerators are a common feature. Mix creation wizards are a cool and relatively new addition to the digital music world. This is in essence a tool that allows you to automatically create a mix using the entirety of your music collection and answers to questions that you provide it. For instance if you would like to make a 70s greatest hits compilation than you can order it up and it will happen automatically.

So where would I get music software? Well there are many ways. As usual there is a ton of sites that offer all manner of this popular product. You can also go to most computer stores/technology stores and find good products. My advice is to go online and look at a bunch of reviews and try to select one that has the capabilities that fit you best. Be confident with whatever you buy too because these are great little programs and they arent that expensive for the increased power over your music collection.

Free online games are becoming hugely popular. Since the day the games were introduced on the Internet, the popularity is growing exponentially. What are the reasons? Let us discuss.

Convenience- most of the population now has access to Internet. The games are free and easy to play. The convenience is the first reason of popularity.

Killing boredom – television became popular as a medium of entertainment. It gained so much acceptance because it can help us kill boredom. When we do not know what to do, television keeps us busty. Online games are similar but better than television. Watching television involves no other activity. While playing online games involves activity.

Excitement- Most of the online games are exciting. Matching wits with computer has a thrill and that thrill makes the players play more. it is the test of players skill and the computer. That excitement can make people play for hours.

Winning feeling- the feeling of winning cannot be described in plain words. That has to be experienced. When the player wins against the computer, it gives a high and raises self-esteem. It is a great hormone booster.

Nothing becomes popular unless it has value. One can try to sell anything, but success will be achieved only when the user gets a value. Online games have value for users and hence are becoming popular.

A major part of your BSCI and CCNP exam success is mastering BGP, and that includes filtering BGP routing updates. In this tutorial, we’ll take a look at how to filter BGP updates with prefix lists.

R4 is advertising three networks via BGP. The downstream router R3 sees these routes and places them into its BGP table as shown below. R3 has two downstream BGP peers, R1 and R2, and is advertising itself as the next-hop IP address for all BGP routes sent to those two routers.

R4(config)#router bgp 4

R4(config-router)#network 21.0.0.0 mask 255.0.0.0

R4(config-router)#network 22.0.0.0 mask 255.0.0.0

R4(config-router)#network 23.0.0.0 mask 255.0.0.0

R3#show ip bgp

BGP table version is 4, local router ID is 3.3.3.3

Status codes: s suppressed, d damped, h history, * valid, > best, i
Internal

Origin codes: i – IGP, e – EGP, ? incomplete

Network Next Hop Metric LocPrf Weight Path

*> 21.0.0.0 10.2.2.4 0 0 4 I

*> 22.0.0.0 10.2.2.4 0 0 4 I

*> 23.0.0.0 10.2.2.4 0 0 4 I

R3(config)#router bgp 123

R3(config-router)#neighbor 172.12.123.1 next-hop-self

R3(config-router)#neighbor 172.12.123.2 next-hop-self

In turn, both R1 and R2 have these three routes in their respective BGP tables.

R2#show ip bgp

BGP table version is 4, local router ID is 2.2.2.2

Status codes: s suppressed, d damped, h history, * valid, > best, i
Internal

Origin codes: i – IGP, e – EGP, ? incomplete

Network Next Hop Metric LocPrf Weight Path

*>i21.0.0.0 172.12.123.3 0 100 0 4 I

*>i22.0.0.0 172.12.123.3 0 100 0 4 I

*>i23.0.0.0 172.12.123.3 0 100 0 4 I

R1#show ip bgp

BGP table version is 4, local router ID is 19.1.1.1

Status codes: s suppressed, d damped, h history, * valid, > best, i
Internal

Origin codes: i – IGP, e – EGP, ? incomplete

Network Next Hop Metric LocPrf Weight Path

*>i21.0.0.0 172.12.123.3 0 100 0 4 I

*>i22.0.0.0 172.12.123.3 0 100 0 4 I

*>i23.0.0.0 172.12.123.3 0 100 0 4 I

If we wanted R3 to receive all three of these routes from R4 but not advertise all of them to R2 and R1, we’ve got a couple of options on how to block these routes. Cisco’s recommendation is the use of prefix-lists, and once you get used to the syntax (which you should do before taking and passing the BSCI), you’ll see they are actually easier to use than access-lists.

In this case, we’re going to configure R3 to send only the route to 21.0.0.0 to R1 and 23.0.0.0 to R2. However, we do want these two routers to get any future routes that R4 advertises into BGP.

Since R1 and R2 will learn about these routes from an iBGP neighbor, they will not advertise the routes to each other.

On R3, we’ll write a prefix-list that denies 22.0.0.0/8 and 23.0.0.0/8, but permits all other routes. After applying the prefix list as shown, R1 sees only the 21.0.0.0 /8 route.

R3(config)#ip prefix-list FILTER_R1 deny 22.0.0.0/8

R3(config)#ip prefix-list FILTER_R1 deny 23.0.0.0/8

R3(config)#ip prefix-list FILTER_R1 permit 0.0.0.0/0 le 32

R3(config)#router bgp 123

R3(config-router)#neighbor 172.12.123.1 prefix-list FILTER_R1 out

R3#clear ip bgp * soft

R1#show ip bgp

BGP table version is 6, local router ID is 19.1.1.1

Status codes: s suppressed, d damped, h history, * valid, > best, i
Internal

Origin codes: i – IGP, e – EGP, ? incomplete

Network Next Hop Metric LocPrf Weight Path

*>i21.0.0.0 172.12.123.3 0 100 0 4 I

The paths to 22.0.0.0/8 and 23.0.0.0/8 have been successfully filtered.

We’ll do the same for R2, except the route not being expressly blocked is 23.0.0.0/8. The line “ip prefix-list permit 0.0.0.0/0 le 32″ is the prefix list equivalent of a “permit any” statement in an ACL.

R3(config)#ip prefix-list FILTER_R2 deny 21.0.0.0/8

R3(config)#ip prefix-list FILTER_R2 deny 22.0.0.0/8

R3(config)#ip prefix-list FILTER_R2 permit 0.0.0.0/0 le 32

R3(config)#router bgp 123

R3(config-router)#neighbor 172.12.123.2 prefix-list FILTER_R2 out

R3#clear ip bgp * soft

R2#show ip bgp

BGP table version is 6, local router ID is 2.2.2.2

Status codes: s suppressed, d damped, h history, * valid, > best, i
Internal

Origin codes: i – IGP, e – EGP, ? incomplete

Network Next Hop Metric LocPrf Weight Path

*>i23.0.0.0 172.12.123.3 0 100 0 4 I

The paths to 21.0.0.0/8 and 22.0.0.0/8 have been successfully filtered.

To see the prefix lists configured on a route as well as the order of the statements in each list, run show ip prefix-list.

R3#show ip prefix-list

ip prefix-list FILTER_R1: 3 entries

seq 5 deny 22.0.0.0/8

seq 10 deny 23.0.0.0/8

seq 15 permit 0.0.0.0/0 le 32

ip prefix-list FILTER_R2: 3 entries

seq 5 deny 21.0.0.0/8

seq 10 deny 22.0.0.0/8

seq 15 permit 0.0.0.0/0 le 32

Get some hands-on practice with prefix lists and you’ll quickly master them. Prefix lists are an important part of working with BGP in the exam room and production networks, so it’s vital that you are comfortable working with them.
